Many of our members have asked how Brexit will affect Mutuals. As Brexit continues to give the finance markets challenges and instability, Mutuals remain a trusted and stable alternative for risk management.

Established 10 years ago, Regis Mutual Management (Regis) has ushered in a compelling new era for mutuality at a critical time for the UK financial services community and the
economy at large. Set against the context of uncertainty following the 2008 banking crisis, its mutual model gave customers choice for those who were tired with the status quo of rising costs without receiving proper benefits. The company has grown across industry sectors over the last decade, and its international growth has helped contribute to Britain’s business leadership on the world stage. In July, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Blesma, the Military Charity for Limbless Veterans. And that’s when we met Hari.

This is a great job and one of the best aspects which I particularly love is getting out and about to meet as many of our AIM Members as possible. This is a very busy season for us as well as for you, with plenty of renewals and the opportunity to come and see you. I have really enjoyed my recent trips and thought that I would share some of these with you, and say a big thank you to the Members who have hosted me and shown me their centres and activities. I hope to meet as many of our other Members as possible over the coming months.

We live in a world afloat with data, in which almost every item of technology leaves a wake of gathered information about us. Most people are aware of the data produced by personal fitness devices and smart phones tracking our movements, browsers collecting our search habits, and vendors tracking our spending – but few are aware that a single Boeing 787 flight typically generates half a terabyte of data. It has been estimated that, in the near future, internet-connected cars will each send 25 gigabytes of data to the cloud every hour as they drive us around.
