I joined Regis in June 2015 as an Assistant Mutual Manager. I had worked in the broking industry for over 10 years and was keen to work for an organisation that championed the customer through the modern interpretation of mutuality.
Innovation is a large part of the culture at Regis. We don’t necessarily try and fit new customers into an existing mould; it is about understanding the difference in the mutuals and working with them to find the most effective way to benefit their members.
Regis encourages staff to develop their careers, which is why I decided to study for an MBA. Regis has been incredibly supportive, giving me time off to complete my studies and the opportunity to work across various departments. This has given me a rounded experience helping me build a successful career.

Fire & Rescue Indemnity Company Case Study
Essex Fire Authority started working with Regis when reviewing its insurance requirements in 2013. They decided to commission a feasibility study about the benefits of moving to a pooled arrangement with other Fire and Rescue Authorities with improved risk management.
After Regis completed the initial study it was clear that a mutual would offer obvious benefits including improved risk management and financial savings.
Fire & Rescue Indemnity Company began trading in November 2015. It’s already seen a smoother process for managing claims, a surplus of £471,000 in its first year of trading and has been nominated for various industry awards, including winning the commended award for Partnership at the Alarm Risk Awards 2016.

As Head of Technology at Regis, I ensure that all our IT platforms deliver the exact solutions that our customers want and keep abreast of all the latest trends to ensure Regis can better service our customers. I enjoy the challenge of always finding innovative solutions for customers to service their individual needs.
I am the Sales & Service Manager for The Retail Mutual, supporting independent retailers by giving them an alternative to conventional insurance for their businesses, homes and buy-to-let properties. As a Mutual, we really do have the customers’ needs at the heart of what we do.
The Sales & Service Team are highly skilled in dealing with new business, renewals, MTA’s, technical queries, payment queries and much more – giving customers simplicity by having one point of contact for setting up and managing their cover.
I am responsible for planning and executing all marketing activity for The Retail Mutual. This involves everything from PR and advertising to direct marketing and developing third-party relationships with industry stakeholders. With so much variety no two days are ever the same.
The best thing about Regis is its down-to-earth and creative culture. The company has a real feeling of innovation and community – just like the Mutuals it manages.
I have been at Regis for nearly ten years, having previously spent over twenty years in the commercial insurance market. I have overall responsibility for the day to day management of the Activities Industry Mutual and the Livery Companies’ Mutual. I work closely with the Directors, Members and service providers for both Mutuals, and the Regis team that provides a full range of management services to these two very successful Mutuals. It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure to see the values and benefits of mutuality so highly appreciated in two very different sectors.
After ten years in various roles within the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) Shaun was appointed Chief Executive in 2005. He was also recently a leading figure in establishing the Association of Mutual Insurers (AMI) in the UK, and is now its CEO.
Shaun is a qualified chartered accountant and has worked in the insurance and corporate finance sectors.
Appointed to the Board in April 2015, Ian is a Chartered Accountant with more than 27 years’ experience in the financial services sector. His career started at KPMG where he spent 13 years in their Insurance and Consulting practice covering a wide range of projects for Lloyd’s, the London market and life insurance companies.
Since then he has held executive positions at a number of insurance companies. Before joining Ecclesiastical as the Group Chief Financial Officer in 2012, he was Group Chief Financial Officer for Torus Insurance where his role included acquisitions, finance, investment and tax management, capital raising, actuarial and reinsurance.
It is very clear to me that Regis have been outstanding as managers for our Activities Industry Mutual and have made the process an enjoyable journey for the members and directors.
